Celebrating the 50th anniversary of James Baldwin's arrival in Saint-Paul de Vence
Seventh in a series, this conference follows others hosted by Howard University (2000), Queen Mary University of London (2007), Suffolk University (2009), New York University (2011), Université Paul-Valéry in Montpellier (2014), and the American University in Paris (2016).
In addition to the conference’s ongoing scholarly exploration of all things Baldwin, this year’s gathering will expand to engage community activists, writers, performing artists and other change agents for a multidisciplinary conversation on James Baldwin and social justice. Register early! Attendance will be capped at 300 people.
Creative track attendees in poetry, fiction, nonfiction and playwriting will participate in a rigorous daily writing workshop and will attend craft sessions focused on close readings of James Baldwin and the study of his writings on writing.
Help us launch our Conference Scholarship Fund by donating the registration fee for an emerging artist, activist or academic.
